Congrats to Jin and Michael for their paper accepted in ChemBioChem as a "Very Important Paper". It was assumed for decades that the C-terminal carboxylic acid group was critical for structure/function of T7. But the magic of evolution lifted that requirement quite easily! Makes you wonder how much we really understand about proteins...
